Rudiments

There are processes, and there is procedure.
Auditing procedure encompasses the setting up of a non-distractive session environment, the ability of the auditor to handle communication with the preclear (TRs), to control (direct the attention) adequately the PC, and a few other things.
Of prime importance is also the establishment of accessibility, by which is meant the ability of the pc to put his attention on his bank and the masses therein - we say the PC is IN SESSION = interested in his case and willing to talk to the auditor.
Insessionness is hindered principally by three phenomena: 1. ARC breaks, 2. Present Time Problems, 3. Missed Withholds. If the PC is sitting in one of these three, he is said to be "out rudiments", and in common language, he would be feeling bad, downtone or misemotional in some way.
This situation has to be remedied before auditing can be effective, and there are specific procedures to put in the rudiments at the beginning of the session, if the pc doesn't come in with a floating needle.
Then, the auditing processes themselves have to restimulate something in the bank so that it can be run out. Hence, on lower grades, the checking of auditing questions for read, which guarantees that there is something to run. An unreading question would indicate that the associated charge is not available to the pc at that moment.
Regarding more advanced drills like those done on Creative Processing or other Solo processes, there still is the need of in-rudiments, otherwise the desired results will not be achieved. The Solo Course part 1 includes the handling of rudiments and some prepared lists.
Personally, out of session, when I find myself misemotional, sometimes I ask myself the rudiments questions (for ARC break, Present Time Problem or Missed Withhold), I can feel the read without the meter, give myself the correct indication and feel much better afterwards.

This is exactly what I want to see. This is a perfect and prosperous example of the highest post which can be made here. The more data floods in, the more we can look at it and continue to theorize about it. We can share our insights, discuss personal experiences, and formulate new processes.

Personally, I would handle out-ruds by simply asking the person what is bothering them, or what is on there mind. Then run the incidents they give you and make a list of things that they are bothered with. Have them go over the items and check for BPC until their needle floats. Clear up any ARCX's and DED DEDEX's.

Excellent post!
Thank you, Nilopodos.

I seem to have always had a problem with rudiments that maybe someone can clear up for me. At times I've had quite a bit of charge on the MW/H questions. We found that a false read contributed to this but I still wonder if somethings missing. Like some 2-way comm with the pc or itsa to see if that handles the charge first. In the past I have felt more suppression on my communication from this action rather than a lessening. Is there some sort of tech missing or do I just have more MW/H's?

Missed withhold is a flip-side of an unacknowledged communication.

In the former you intend to withhold something, in the latter case you intend to share something, in both cases you don't know if you have succeeded.

If you look at it that way then all the MW/H questions (and all other ruds!) ask for is "Are you certain about the results of your own current actions?"

If not, then there's something you have to look at.

Sometimes it can just be a feeling that is fouling things up. If you feel like something is wrong, address the feeling without trying to create more stuff to put on top of that. Sometimes I have entire sessions where I just work on rudiments with no pictures and things fall down like dominos.
